The National Theatre of Ghana has officially relaunched its Music Education Department with a vibrant Open Day Programme held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the National Theatre in Accra.
The event, a flagship initiative of the Theatre, served as a platform to reintroduce the Music Education Department and promote creativity, cultural appreciation, and learning through the arts.
Participating schools showcased their talents in dance, debate, drama, and music, reflecting the department’s renewed commitment to nurturing artistic expression among young people.
The Acting Executive Director of the National Theatre of Ghana, Mr. Henry Herbert Malm, expressed gratitude to stakeholders and highlighted the significance of the occasion.
“Today marks a truly special moment for the National Theatre of Ghana, a day of renewal, reconnection, and reaffirmation of our commitment to the arts and to education. We are gathered here to celebrate not only creativity but also the rebirth of an essential pillar of our institution: the Music Education Department,” he said.

Mr. Malm underscored the department’s historic role in nurturing young talent, promoting music literacy, and connecting Ghana’s artistic heritage to future generations.
He noted that the relaunch represents a milestone in the Theatre’s mission to integrate the arts into national development and education.
“Through this department, we envision a space where young people can explore their creativity, where schools can integrate music and performance into learning, and where future composers, instrumentalists, and performing artists can find mentorship and inspiration. We are not just relaunching a department; we are reigniting a movement that places the arts at the heart of education and national development,” he emphasized.
Mr. Malm further noted that the initiative aligns with the Government’s 24-Hour Economy Policy, as the revitalized department is expected to create new income streams and opportunities for musicians, educators, composers, and facilitators within Ghana’s growing creative economy.

“By revitalizing the Music Education Department, we are expanding opportunities for creative professionals and driving cultural and economic activity beyond the traditional workday,” he added.
The Acting Executive Director expressed appreciation to participating schools, educators, and partners for their support, reaffirming the Theatre’s belief that the arts are not a luxury but a necessity in shaping confident, innovative, and culturally grounded citizens.
“Every note played, every dance performed, and every story told is a step toward a future where creativity drives excellence and innovation in our nation,” he concluded.
With this relaunch, the National Theatre of Ghana reaffirms its commitment to inspiring, educating, and transforming society through the arts.
