The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has outlined key government plans aimed at strengthening Ghana’s agricultural sector and driving year-round food production.
Speaking in Parliament, Mr. Dumelo said the government is prioritising irrigation expansion as a strategy for wealth creation and sustainable farming.
He noted that improving water access for farmers would ensure consistent production and reduce the nation’s dependence on rain-fed agriculture.
He further disclosed that the government will distribute water pumps to farmers across the country to enhance productivity and support increased output.
As part of efforts to modernise the sector, Mr. Dumelo also announced the establishment of a 50-farm service centres initiative, designed to give farmers quick access to essential equipment and mechanised services.
He said the initiatives will boost food production, improve livelihoods, and contribute significantly to national economic growth.
