The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will begin issuing Ghana Cards to children aged between six (6) and fourteen (14) years, starting Monday, October 6, 2025.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, William Ampomah Darlas, the first phase of the exercise will cover children who have already completed registration, beginning with 56 districts across the country.
The remaining districts will be added in subsequent days.
The NIA explained that the issuance will take place at the schools where the children were originally registered.
Parents and legal guardians are required to accompany their wards to the designated locations and must present either the Form A or the receipt issued during registration.
The Authority said the initiative forms part of its commitment to ensuring that all Ghanaians, including children, are issued with the national identification card, adding that all backlogs of unprinted Ghana Cards have now been cleared to ensure a smooth process.
Some of the districts included in the first phase of the distribution exercise are:
Asunafo South, Asutifi, Ahafo Ano North, Dormaa Central, Sunyani West, Akuapem North, Fanteakwa, New Juaben South, Ablekuma West, Accra Metro, Bolgatanga Municipal, Jirapa Municipal, Keta, Sekondi, and Sefwi Akontombra, among others.
The NIA further indicated that details on new registrations for children aged 6–14 years at its district offices will be announced soon.
The Authority encouraged parents and guardians to comply with the outlined procedures to ensure the successful completion of the exercise.
