The Member of Parliament for the Bodi constituency, Sampson Ahi says the top hierarchy of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have concede that it is highly unlikely the Vice President, the the flagbearer of their party, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia will lose the upcoming elections.
According to him, they quietly admit it will take a Herculean task to change the mindset of Ghanians who can now compare, after the abysmal performance of the Akufo Addo- Bawumia government over the past seven years.
The Bodi MP said they alternative now DOR the party is to focus on winning more Parmiamentary seats.
He added that the party, fully aware of the defeat ahead, has therefore devised a clandestine campaign urging electorates to vote ‘Skirt and Blouse’,.
“The NPP knows Dr. Bawumia cannot win, so they are redirecting their efforts to retaining parliamentary seats,” he stated.
Sampson Ahi was speaking when he hosted the NDC Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang in his constituency as part of her three-daytour of the Western North Region.
His comment comes on the back of the latest polls including that of reputable organizations such as The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Fitch Solutions, and Global InfoAnalytics, which have all projected that former President John Mahama is poised to win the 2024 presidential elections.
The forecasts highlight high inflation and deteriorating living standards as significant factors contributing to Bawumia’s potential defeat.
Sampson Ahi who has been accompanying the NDC Running Mate on her tour, urged voters in Bodi, Suaman, Bia East, and Bia West constituencies to resist the NPP’s “desperation tactics” as he put it, and cast their votes for the NDC in both the NDC Presidential and Parliamentary candidates.
