Police clamp down on criminal activities in Senya Beraku

The Central East Regional Police Command on December 17, 2025, conducted an intelligence-led operation at three (3) locations within the Senya Beraku enclave in the Central Region to clamp down on criminal activities being carried out by some individuals.

The operation began at Kukwado, a coastal community, where six (6) suspects were arrested in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other related items.

At a yellow house near a cemetery, four (4) suspects, including a female, were arrested with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, locally distilled gin (akpeteshie), a 32-inch television set, and assorted brands of cigarettes.

The team later moved to Awiaso, where three (3) suspects, including a female, were arrested with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a toy gun, shisha, locally distilled gin, and a game pot.

The suspected hideouts at the locations were subsequently set ablaze by the police team.

A total of 13 suspects were arrested across three locations. They are: Michael Essel (23), Frederick Koranteng (23), James Essel (24), Jones Koranteng (20), Daniel Essibu (30), Kofi Abbiw (28), Kofi Essibu (57), Klotey Poree (26), Bismark Sarbeng (26), Kojo Otoo (24), Thomas Quartey (22), Gladys Jackson (19), and Florence Adenue (25).

Both the suspects and the exhibits are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
