President John Dramani Mahama is expected to visit the Apostolic Nunciature in Accra today to sign the book of condolence opened in honor of the late Pope Francis.
The solemn gesture reflects President Mahama’s long-standing admiration for the late pontiff, whose humility, compassion, and progressive leadership touched hearts across the globe.
Pope Francis passed away on Easter Monday at the age of 88, after suffering a stroke and irreversible heart failure. His death has been met with an outpouring of grief and tributes from world leaders, faith communities, and millions of Catholics worldwide.
The late Pope was laid in state on Wednesday, drawing thousands to pay their last respects. His body will be placed in a sealed casket this evening ahead of his burial tomorrow.
President Mahama is expected to eulogize the Pope as a “moral light in uncertain times,” recalling the pontiff’s unwavering commitment to the poor, to peace, and to bridging divides across faiths and cultures.
