Scholarships Secretariat doesn’t charge for applications – Asafo-Agyei cautions public

The Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, Mr. Alexander Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, has cautioned the public against paying money to individuals claiming to facilitate scholarship awards.

He emphasized that the Secretariat does not charge any fees for scholarship applications or awards, warning that anyone demanding payment in the name of the institution is a fraudster.

The caution follows the arrest of one Emmanuel Ofori, who was apprehended by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) for allegedly operating fake scholarship schemes.

Mr. Asafo-Agyei, in a statement on his Facebook timeline, said all legitimate scholarship opportunities are announced through the Secretariat’s official portal, scholarships.gov.gh, and that the agency remains committed to transparency and fairness in its processes.

He urged the public to report any suspected fraudulent activity through 0302907058, 0302907059, or 0302907051, and to disregard any unauthorized messages, emails, or social media posts offering paid scholarship slots.

“The Scholarships Secretariat remains committed to ensuring equal access to education support for all qualified Ghanaians without any financial barriers,” he added.
