President John Dramani Mahama, alongside Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and the entire government, has issued a heartfelt message of gratitude to the people of Ghana and the international community for their unwavering support following the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, which claimed eight lives, including two key ministers.
The Presidency expressed profound gratitude to all Ghanaians for their solidarity during the period of national mourning, acknowledging the compassion shown by traditional leaders, religious groups, civil society, the diplomatic corps, political actors, security services, and citizens.
These gestures, alongside participation in the funeral and acts of kindness, brought comfort to the bereaved families.
Following the state funeral, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah announced that flags, which had been flown at half-mast, would be restored to full mast, symbolizing the close of the mourning period and the nation’s return to daily life.
The message also served as an appeal for continued unity, prayers, and support for the affected families, with the President reaffirming Ghana’s collective resolve to heal and move forward with renewed compassion and purpose.
“As we return to the duties of resetting Ghana and building the Ghana we want, let us remain united in prayer, comfort one another, and continue to support the families affected by this tragedy.”
