Tourism Minister swears in new board to lead national cultural development

The Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, today inaugurated the newly constituted Governing Board of the National Commission on Culture (NCC) at a ceremony held at the Ministry’s conference room in Accra.

In her address, the Minister emphasized the board’s crucial role in guiding the Commission to fulfill its mandate in alignment with national development objectives.

She stated that the board is expected to provide strategic leadership and direction, ensuring that all Commission programs are firmly aligned with Ghana’s cultural and developmental priorities.

She further underscored the importance of accountability, transparency, and good governance in the Commission’s operations, particularly in managing its limited resources.

“One of the board’s most important responsibilities will be to ensure effective oversight of the Commission’s resources,” Hon. Gomashie said. “By fostering collaboration, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement, the board can significantly strengthen the Commission’s impact and efficiency.”

The newly inaugurated board brings together notable figures from academia, traditional leadership, the creative arts, and public administration.

Its members include Wakefield Wisdom Ackuaku, Richard Baffour-Awuah, Bridget Mensah, Abena Annobea Asare, Mama Aflo-Vuiede II, Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, Gladys Boateng, Anna Kportufe, Edinam Korkor Atatsi, Mildred Ashley, Abdul-Samed Yakubu Gomda, and Adiza Baba-Issah.

The inauguration was attended by Directors of the Ministry, led by Chief Director Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah, who commended the appointees and assured them of the Ministry’s continued support.
