The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the violent clashes at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace during the Homowo Festival on August 30, 2025.
The violence left three people dead and several others injured.
According to the police, a joint team from the Accra Regional Command and the National Headquarters Special Support Unit arrested 35-year-old private security officer Christian Saka Ahianyevi on August 30, and 26-year-old dispatch rider Newton Alotey on August 31.
Police said Ahianyevi was found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other items, while 18 spent BB cartridges were retrieved from Alotey. All exhibits have since been secured.
Both suspects are in custody assisting with investigations as security forces maintain a strong presence in the affected communities.
The Regional Police Command has urged calm, calling on residents to cooperate with the security agencies and to provide information on the whereabouts of other suspects.
