Veep supports Oguaa Fetu afahye with donation to traditional council

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has donated assorted items and cash to the Oguaa Traditional Council in support of this year’s Oguaa Fetu Afahye celebrations.

The donation was presented on her behalf by her Policy and Political Adviser, Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, at a ceremony in Cape Coast.

Items presented included bags of rice, cartons of tinned fish, cooking oil, soft drinks, bottled water, schnapps, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a ram, and 100 cartons of tomato paste.

The Vice President also offered GHS 40,000 to the Traditional Council and GHS 20,000 to the Queen Mothers.

Receiving the items, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area and a Member of the Council of State, expressed appreciation to the Vice President and government for the continued support toward the festival.

Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo explained that although the Vice President had wished to attend in person, she had to represent government at an equally important engagement in Ethiopia due to President Mahama’s absence.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to partnering with traditional leaders to promote good governance and strengthen the chieftaincy institution.

He further urged chiefs and queen mothers in the Central Region to continue fostering peace and unity, describing them as critical pillars of Ghana’s development.
