The Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on Sunday led a high-powered government delegation to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to pay respects at the one-week celebration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang signed the book of condolence on behalf of the Government of Ghana, describing the late Queen Mother as a revered royal figure whose passing on August 7, 2025, marked a great loss to Asanteman and the nation.
The Vice President was accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah; Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Alex Segbefia; Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo; Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim; former Finance Minister Seth Terkper; Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene; Ahafo Regional Minister Charity Gardner; and other senior government officials.
Also present were National Democratic Congress (NDC) leaders, including National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, and Ashanti Regional Chairman Andrew Nana Akwasi, alongside other regional executives.
After paying homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang conveyed the government’s condolences to the royal family and the people of Asanteman.
On behalf of government, she presented a cash donation, 150 cartons of bottled water, 50 cartons of drinks, and other essential items in support of the observance.
Final funeral arrangements for the late Queen Mother are expected to be announced in the coming days.
