Weija cybercrime bust: 10 suspects in police custody

The Ghana Police Service’s Cybercrime Unit, in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has arrested ten foreign nationals comprising Chinese and Malaysian individuals in Weija, Greater Accra Region, for their alleged involvement in cybercrime activities.

The operation, conducted on May 28, 2025, was intelligence-led and targeted a suspected cybercrime syndicate operating in the area.

During the raid, authorities retrieved over 800 assorted mobile phones, several computers, and numerous charging devices believed to have been used in illegal operations.

All items have been secured for forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations. The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Ghana Police Service has indicated that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

This operation underscores the commitment of Ghanaian authorities to clamp down on cyber fraud and protect the nation’s digital and financial infrastructure.
