Why won’t people believe ofori-atta is sick? – Frank Davies

Frank Davies, a member of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s legal team, has expressed frustration over public skepticism regarding his client’s health condition.

In an interview today on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Davies questioned, “Why should it be so difficult for people to understand that the person involved has a health challenge?”

He emphasized that Ofori-Atta’s health issues were known prior to the charges against him and that he is currently undergoing treatment in the United States.

Ofori-Atta was scheduled to appear before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) today, June 2 but was unable to attend due to a sudden deterioration in his health.

His legal team has submitted medical documentation to both the OSP and the Human Rights Court, detailing his condition and upcoming surgical procedures.

In light of his health challenges, Ofori-Atta has proposed participating in a virtual session with the OSP, in accordance with provisions under the Electronic Transactions Act. The OSP has not yet responded to this request.

Ofori-Atta is currently challenging the OSP’s previous declaration of him as a wanted person, seeking to have this designation removed and related notices deleted from public platforms.

The Human Rights Court has scheduled a ruling on this matter for June 18, 2025.

Davies criticized media reports suggesting that the OSP might re-declare Ofori-Atta as wanted, calling such actions “highly irregular” given the ongoing legal proceedings and his client’s medical condition.
