You are not coming back to power anytime soon – Majority to Minority

The Majority in Parliament has asserted that the Minority caucus will remain in opposition for an extended period, attributing this to what they describe as the poor performance of the Akufo-Addo government.

According to the Majority, the economic challenges inherited from the previous administration remain a pressing issue for Ghanaians, raising questions about the Minority’s criticism of the current government, which has only been in office for two months.

During a debate on President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address, Deputy Majority Leader Kweku Ricketts-Hagan condemned the borrowing practices of the Akufo-Addo administration, arguing that they contributed significantly to the country’s economic hardships.

“President Nana Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address was quite ironic. He advised that we should ensure we don’t default—a statement coming from a president who oversaw excessive borrowing, unilaterally stopped debt payments in 2022, and failed to pay interest. Yet, he was telling President Mahama to avoid defaulting,” Ricketts-Hagan stated.

He further criticized the Minority for speaking out too soon, adding,

“You have found your voices early, but you need to be patient. Ghanaians have not forgotten. You will remain in opposition for a very long time.
