The Zeera Group of Companies has donated modern communication equipment valued at GHS81,000 to the Public Affairs Department of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to enhance the agency’s visibility and strengthen its fight against drug-related crimes across Ghana.
The donation package includes a Canon EOS R8 camera, professional lenses, a camera flash, and branded reflective vests, all intended to improve NACOC’s capacity to effectively document, publicize, and communicate its operations.
Presenting the items on Wednesday, NACOC Director-General Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey described the gesture as timely, noting that it would support the Commission’s efforts to keep pace with increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.
“The Public Affairs Department, as part of its mandate, must ensure that the image of the Commission is well-maintained in the public space. This support provides the tools needed to achieve that goal,” Brigadier General Mantey said.
He further urged the department to make judicious use of the newly acquired equipment to enhance the Commission’s public engagement and operational visibility.
The donation was made possible through the benevolence of Alhaji Seidu Agongo, Chief Executive Officer of Zeera Group.
The conglomerate, one of Ghana’s most diversified business entities is widely recognised for its contributions to national development and philanthropy.
Receiving the items on behalf of NACOC, Head of Public Affairs, NCO Nana Osei Nkwantabisa, expressed appreciation to Zeera Group and the Commission’s leadership for their continued support.
“We are grateful for this timely intervention. The equipment will go a long way in enhancing our outreach, transparency, and communication with the public,” he said, assuring that the items will be put to good use and properly maintained.
The gesture follows NACOC’s recent successes in combating drug trafficking, including a record 3.3-tonne cocaine seizure in March, one of the largest in Africa.
These operations underscore the growing sophistication of drug syndicates and the need for enhanced tools and visibility to sustain the Commission’s fight against the menace.
