The Zug-Raan Bawku Naba, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, President of the Kusaug Traditional Council, has expressed profound gratitude to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for his successful mediation between the Bawku Naba and the Nayiri, which culminated in a final report submitted to President John Dramani Mahama on December 16, 2025.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Zug-Raan praised Otumfuo’s patience, diligence, and fairness throughout the more than two-year mediation process, even amid personal losses, including the passing of the Queen Mother of Asanteman and the Mamponghene.
The Zug-Raan confirmed full acceptance of the mediation report and pledged to support the implementation of all its recommendations.
He also commended the Nayiri for participating constructively through representatives, which enabled peaceful dialogue and reconciliation at the Manhyia Palace.
Expressing gratitude to both Presidents Akufo-Addo and Mahama for endorsing the mediation process, the Zug-Raan welcomed the government’s swift acceptance of the report and its announcement of measures to ensure peace and development in Bawku.
He highlighted the creation of a GHS 1 billion Bawku Revitalisation Fund as a positive step for socio-economic recovery.
The Zug-Raan called on his brother, the Nayiri, all citizens, and ethnic communities, including Kusaas and Mamprusis across Ghana, to embrace reconciliation and unity.
He urged prayers and remembrance for victims of past conflicts and a commitment to peaceful coexistence.
He further pledged to remain available for dialogue with Otumfuo, government officials, civil society, religious institutions, and development partners to promote lasting peace in the Kusaug Traditional Area.
Finally, the Zug-Raan appealed to all residents and stakeholders to work collaboratively toward social cohesion, reintegration, and the avoidance of divisive actions.
