The Volta Regional Police Command has destroyed 600 fertilizer-sized sacks of Indian hemp, weighing a total of 47,530 kilograms and valued at approximately GH₵4.2 billion, following a court order.

The destruction took place on Monday, November 17, 2025, at about 14:30 hours, after the exhibits, seized in 2022 in the case The Republic vs. Yao Kwadwo @Wallako and two others, were admitted into evidence during trial.

According to the statement signed by Chief Inspector Francis Kwaku Gomado, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, the order to destroy the narcotics was issued by His Honour Felix Datsumor, presiding judge at the Ho Circuit Court.

The burning exercise was supervised by Mr. Moses Dzafni, Circuit Court Registrar, Mr. Joseph Opusomah, State Attorney, Mr. Daniel John Pekyi from the Narcotics Control Commission, and Mr. Emmanuel Mensah Gbekor of the Environmental Protection Authority.

The exhibits were completely destroyed at the Klefe dumping site in Ho at about 22:30 hours, under strict supervision by the Police, National Security, and media representatives.

The Regional Police Command expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their continued support in combating drug-related crime in the region.
