The North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia, has assured residents of Nakpanduri that the recent relocation of an ambulance to Nalerigu is only a temporary measure and not a permanent reassignment.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 10, Hon. Tia explained that the decision followed a tragic accident on the Nalerigu–Gbintri road on Saturday, September 6, 2025, which claimed several lives and left others critically injured.
At the time, the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly’s ambulance was out of service, prompting authorities to redeploy the Nakpanduri ambulance to Nalerigu to provide rapid emergency support.
The Minister stressed that the arrangement is strictly temporary, pending repairs of the East Mamprusi ambulance. Once completed, the Nakpanduri vehicle will return to its original station.
“This decision must not be misconstrued as a reassignment of ownership. It is a temporary and necessary measure to ensure that no lives are lost due to logistical challenges,” he stated.
Hon. Tia cautioned against misinformation and the politicisation of the issue, emphasising that the intervention was taken purely in the interest of protecting human life.
He further assured residents that all districts in the region would continue to receive the necessary emergency support.
He urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading false information, reminding stakeholders that emergency services must remain apolitical and focused on saving lives.
