Amenfi East MP urges patience as government pursues retrieval of stolen state funds

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi East, Nicholas Amankwa, has appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patience with the government’s security and legal institutions as efforts intensify to recover funds allegedly stolen by former state officials.

Speaking on Dwaboase on Power FM and TV XYZ with Piesie Okrah, Hon. Amankwa said the Attorney-General’s Department and the Office of the Receiver of Assets and Liabilities (ORAL) are acting strictly within the confines of the law and free from political interference.

“The Attorney-General is working independently to retrieve money stolen by former government officials. This is not witch-hunting; the state needs these funds to finance development,” he stated.

The Amenfi East legislator also dismissed claims that the Attorney-General’s office is being used to intimidate political opponents, emphasizing that accountability and transparency are essential for national development.

“If we want Ghana to move forward, we must support lawful efforts to recover what belongs to the state. No one should be above the law,” he added.
