Asunafo North MP supports Mim SHS after fire incident

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asunafo North in the Ahafo Region, Mr Haruna Mohammed, has donated relief items to the Mim Senior High School (MISEC) after some part of the institution was gutted by fire recently.

In a swift response to ensure teaching and learning continued, the freshman legislator teamed up with the Ahafo Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) donated relief items including water, essential supplies, and an undisclosed cash to aid the school’s recovery efforts.

Mr Mohammed, during his visit to the school, indicated that the gesture was part of his continued commitment to improving education in the Municipality.

Addressing the press, the MP said, “I supplied science laboratory equipment as requested by the school authorities, presented GH¢5,000 in support of their SRC Week celebration, donated a distillation plant to enhance practical science learning.”

He also announced that he had facilitated GETFund scholarship grant for 25 students in the area.

“This visit was more than symbolic, it was about fulfilling promises and renewing my commitment to the future of our youth,” Haruna noted.

Tackling infrastructure challenges in MISEC, Mr Mohammed said he had submitted a proposal for the construction of a 2 km road within the school.

The project, he noted, is “expected to commence next year” adding that he had also initiated plans for a school park featuring volleyball and basketball courts to be constructed in the school to help unearth sports takents.

He promised to provide table tennis equipment to the school on his next visit, and pledged to advocate for the construction of a modern auditorium to serve the school community.

“I am determined to see MISEC become the best school in Ahafo.That’s why I’m pushing for its inclusion in the STEM school programme.”

“To me, leadership is not about waiting 50 years to make an impact. The time is now. My commitment to education and youth empowerment remains stronger than ever, and with the support of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, we will continue to invest in the future of our young people,” he assured.

The new MP urged the students to take advantage of the government’s support and study hard to achieve their dreams, pledging his support to brilliant students who aspire to reach higher heights in life.
