Berekum west education fund launched to support students and schools

The Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Hon. Dickson Kyere-Duah, on Sunday officially launched the Berekum West Education Fund, a landmark initiative to support brilliant but needy students and improve educational infrastructure across the constituency.

The colourful ceremony in Jinijini drew a large audience of traditional leaders, clergy, educational stakeholders, development partners, and indigenes of Berekum West from home and abroad.

In his keynote address, Hon. Kyere-Duah said the Fund was established to provide scholarships to deserving students, supply schools with critical teaching and learning resources, and strengthen institutions delivering quality education.

“Education is the greatest equalizer and the key to unlocking opportunities for the youth of Berekum West,” the MP emphasized.

The Berekum West Education Fund was launched with the aim of ensuring no child is denied access to higher education due to financial challenges, while also supporting schools with vital learning resources and positioning education as a driver of socio-economic transformation.

Clear guidelines have been set to guarantee that funds are used strictly for their intended purposes.

The initiative drew overwhelming support through generous donations and pledges from individuals, corporate bodies, professional associations, alumni groups, and citizens abroad.

Funding will be sustained through annual fundraising events, contributions from individuals and organizations, partnerships with donor agencies, and support from alumni associations and the diaspora.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the Fund will be managed by a committee representing education, traditional authorities, religious groups, CSOs, and professional bodies.

The MP will provide strategic direction but not direct control, while annual reports and audited accounts will be made publicly accessible.

Stakeholders can contribute through fundraising activities, direct bank deposits, mobile money transfers, and corporate sponsorships or partnerships.

Traditional leaders and dignitaries commended the MP for his foresight and pledged their continued support to make the Fund a lasting legacy.

The launch of the Berekum West Education Fund has been hailed as a milestone in the constituency’s development.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that with collective effort, the initiative will transform lives, expand opportunities, and uplift educational standards for generations to come.
