Big Push: Work begins Tuesday on Takoradi–Cape Coast highway dualisation

President John Dramani Mahama will on Tuesday perform a groundbreaking ceremony to officially commence construction works on the dualisation of the Takoradi–Cape Coast highway.

The event will form part of the President’s one-day working visit to the Western Region.

The project, which falls under the government’s flagship “Big Push” infrastructure initiative, is among the 32 major road projects highlighted in the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review.

The long-awaited expansion of the vital coastal corridor is part of government’s broader agenda to modernise national infrastructure, boost economic activity, and attract investment to create jobs and spur regional development.

During his visit, President Mahama is also expected to inspect ongoing expansion and renovation works at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and the Western Regional Hospital.
