Boys: Senegal and Tanzania Split Opener Spoils
Tanzania and Senegal played a fiercely contested boys’ match to start the day.
Despite both teams’ skill and grit, they were unable to gain the upper hand, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The match, which was evenly matched, was the ideal prelude to the championship.
Girls: Kawino of Uganda Takes Center Stage
South Africa and Uganda’s girls’ team engaged in a thrilling match in the second match.
The pivotal moment of the match occurred when Grace Kawino, Uganda’s star substitute (No. 7), Her first touch resulted in a spectacular goal.
Her goal sealed a 1-0 victory, giving Uganda three vital points and igniting raucous celebrations among their fans.
The Tournament Is Started by the Opening Ceremony.
The official opening ceremony took center stage after the South Africa-Uganda confrontation.
The championship officially began with a lively event that brought players and fans together in anticipation of the upcoming battles.
It was full of fanfare and cultural displays.
Boys: Ghana’s Andor Wins Against Uganda
In the boys’ division against Uganda, the host country, Ghana, made a daring statement.
The star was John Andor, who gave Ghana the lead early on with a brilliant solo goal in the third minute.
Ghana became the first team to score twice in the competition when he doubled his total in the 30th minute to seal a 2-0 victory.
As their boys scored three points, the home crowd cheered.
Girls: Ghana Edges Morocco in Dramatic Finish
In the last game of the day, the Ghana girls’ team had a tense encounter with Morocco.
The scoring was not opened in the first half as both teams were trying to outwit each other.
Ghana’s Jennifer Awuku scored five minutes to full time lifting her team to a 1-0 triumph.
This victory brought so much joy to the home fans.
Championship Format
The CAF Africa Schools Championship Africa features this one of its kind, thrill-packed format.
The time structure for every match is two halves of twenty minutes each. There are unlimited substitutions.
A shootout tiebreaker will take place if the match is deadlocked ensuring that every contest has a winner.
