Collins Dauda slams Afenyo-Markin over CJ removal: “he’s a confused politician”

Asutifi South MP Collins Dauda has hit back at Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, branding him a “confused politician” for questioning the removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.

Speaking in Akwatia during Tuesday’s by-election, Mr. Dauda defended President John Dramani Mahama’s decision, insisting the removal process was constitutional and transparent.

“The Minority Leader is a confused politician because the constitution clearly outlines the procedure for removing a Chief Justice. He should cite a breach,” Mr. Dauda said.

He dismissed suggestions that action should have awaited the outcome of multiple petitions. “There were three petitions, and you want us to wait for all three? The report was clear that she must be removed, and the president acted lawfully,” he argued.

Mr. Dauda maintained that President Mahama acted within his oath of office and urged critics to respect the constitution.
