Education minister urges CIMG graduates to drive national growth through strategic marketing

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has called on the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) and its graduates to play an active role in Ghana’s economic transformation by deploying strategic marketing skills across the public and private sectors.

Speaking at the CIMG inauguration ceremony in Accra, the Minister stressed that marketing should no longer be confined to tourism or consumer-goods firms alone.

He urged the institute and its members to “embed marketing strategy across the public sector and national governance structures.”

“Branding should not sit in the tourism industry alone. Every Ministry, Department, and Agency must be a marketer of Ghana’s vision, values, and development programmes,” he asserted.

He further challenged CIMG graduates to help project Ghana’s policies and products onto global platforms, using marketing as a tool to build trust, shape perceptions and drive behavioural change.

The Minister commended CIMG for its enhanced professional marketing qualification programmes, and called on the government to provide support and partnership as the institute takes on a central role in positioning “Brand Ghana”.
