Four suspected highway robbers who engaged in a gun battle with police on the Ejura -Asante Mampong highway have been killed.
On July 14, 2025 police personnel, acting on intelligence regarding suspects involved in the rampant robberies at Aframso between Ejura and Mampong highways busted the armed men at their hideout at Memanaso No.1 farm Dam where they opened fire on the police.
This follows a similar highway robbery that occured two days earlier in the area.
Police report intercepted by Myxyzonline.com reveal that an attempt to apprehend them following intelligence resulted in the gun battle that led to the killing of four suspects while others managed to escape with some gunshot wounds.
The police team searched and recovered the 40 rounds of CZ ammunitions, two [2] smartphones, four [4] key pad phones, three [3] side bags, and two [2] wristwatches.
The other items found were talismans, three face masks, tramadol tablets, tazbars, an ID card bearing the name of Jafoul Babuka, two [2] matchetes and an unregistered Haojue express motorbike.
According to the police, the suspects were later identified by some community members as Tambaya, Babuka, Bello and Bube, who have been terrorising commuters along Ejura, Mampong, Kumasi road and Ejura Atebubu, Amantin road.
The four suspects were rushed to Holy Family Hospital for treatment, but they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Their bodies were deposited in the hospital morgue for preservation.
