GH¢304m EXIM support, youth and women programmes anchor Ghana’s industrial growth agenda – Trade Minister

Minister for Trade, Industry and Agribusiness has stated that, the Ghana EXIM Bank in 2025 disbursed GH¢304 million to support trade and industrial growth.
This she says augmented government’s efforts in scaling up financing for entrepreneurs, youth and women-led businesses.

The Minister who apprised Ghanaians on the sector during the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, January 21,2026 said
“Under the Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship Programme, more than 155,000 young people received skills training, while over 6,000 start-ups were supported with tools and equipment”.

She added that the year under review saw a significant surge in financial assistance to businesses.
“Direct financial assistance to entrepreneurs reached nearly GH¢19.14 million, supplemented by funding from the World Bank-supported Ghana Economic Transformation Project” she said

Madam Elizabeth Agyare reiterated government’s commitment towards ensuring gender parity in such disbursements
“Women-owned enterprises also benefited significantly. More than 2,800 women were sensitised on cross-border trade, while over 150 women-led businesses received export-readiness training through the ITC SheTrades Initiative” adding that “as part of efforts to curb imports and stabilise the cedi, government has announced that all uniforms and apparel for state institutions will be procured exclusively from local manufacturers”

Meanwhile government is drafting a bill to ensure consumer protection.
“To strengthen consumer protection, the Ghana Standards Authority certified 957 Made-in-Ghana products and inspected over 66,000 high-risk goods, ensuring quality assurance and public safety. Key legislation, namely the Business Regulatory Reforms Bill, Consumer Protection Bill, and Competition Bill, is also expected to be finalised in 2026” she intimated

“The era of rhetoric is over,” Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare said. “We are building a Ghana where Made-in-Ghana stands for quality, innovation and pride, and where farmers, artisans and entrepreneurs drive our economic revival.”
