The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company, Madam Judith Adjobah Blay, has donated GHC20,000 to support two nurses of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital who are currently battling breast cancer and undergoing treatment.
The gesture forms part of Ghana Gas’s activities to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a global campaign observed every October to raise awareness, support patients, and promote early detection and treatment of the disease.
Speaking during the presentation at the hospital, Madam Blay commended the two nurses for their resilience and dedication to duty despite their health challenges.
She described their story as “unique and inspiring,” noting that their courage to continue saving lives while undergoing treatment reflects extraordinary strength and compassion.
“We want you to know that you are not alone. Ghana Gas stands with you and all others going through this journey,”
— Madam Judith Adjobah Blay, CEO, Ghana Gas
She explained that the gesture aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Mahama Cares’ initiative, which emphasizes compassion, support for the vulnerable, and care for the needy.
“Ghana Gas is fully aligned with the President’s vision. Our support today is not a one-time act of charity — it marks the beginning of a lasting partnership between Ghana Gas and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital,” she added.
Madam Blay also encouraged women to prioritize their health, stressing that stress is among the key risk factors associated with breast cancer. She urged women to adopt a balanced lifestyle and to take regular health screenings seriously.
Management of the Ridge Hospital expressed profound appreciation to Ghana Gas for the timely intervention and urged other corporate institutions to emulate the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
