Ghana has lost her image as the beacon of democracy and the Black Star of Africa – Mahama bemoans

Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has slammed government for denting the once cherished image Ghana had as a model of democracy and good governance.

The former President says he becomes embarrassed when foreign leaders he meets at engagements outside Ghana try to find out what has gone wrong.

For him, the high level of decadence as a result of corruption, impunity, abuse of office and institutions has suprised many who saw Ghana as the Black Star of Africa.

John Mahama who was addressing a mini durbar in the Twifo Atti-Mokwa Constituency said it’s time to kick out those in charge of the affairs of the state to reset the county.

” As a Former President I go for conferences and programmes abroad. Everywhere, I go, they ask me. What happened to Ghana- why are things this way? He recounted

He added ” they tell me, what could have happened to Ghana which was once a model of democracy and good governance”

Ghana has lost her place as the second largest economy in Africa to Ivory Coast and is on the verge of losing her place as the second leading producer of cocoa globally.

Mr. Mahama has therefore urged Ghanaians to vote massively for change in the December 7 polls to reset Ghana and put her back on track.
