The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has sworn in its newly elected Ashanti Regional executives following a rerun of the regional polls.
The ceremony, held in Kumasi on Thursday, September 4, 2025, was supervised by the National President of the Association, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour.
Kofi Adu Domfeh was inaugurated as the new Ashanti Regional Chairman after winning the rerun on August 22.
He secured 20 out of 31 valid votes cast, while his contender, Georgina Ama Ankomah, polled 11. No ballots were rejected.
The rerun became necessary after the GJA Elections Dispute Adjudication Committee (EDAC) annulled the June 30 elections over irregularities, citing breaches of the Association’s constitution and issues of voter eligibility.
With the disputes now settled, Mr. Dwumfour urged the new executives to focus on strengthening the Association’s work in the region and to prioritize the welfare and professional growth of journalists.
He commended members for their patience during the electoral process.
