The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana has called on the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod) to remain resolute in its efforts to support the continued appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar and other major international currencies.
The appeal was made during a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of Goldbod, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, to formally congratulate him on his recent appointment.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Executive Secretary Mr. Samson Asaki Awingobit commended Mr. Gyamfi, describing his appointment as a reflection of his proven expertise, leadership, and sectoral achievements.
Mr. Awingobit expressed confidence that under Mr. Gyamfi’s leadership, Goldbod would continue to play a pivotal role in stabilizing the cedi through strategic gold-related interventions.
In his response, Mr. Gyamfi expressed gratitude for the association’s support and reaffirmed Goldbod’s commitment to implementing robust measures to bolster the local currency.
He noted that the Board’s ongoing operations and interventions are designed to contribute meaningfully to sustaining the cedi’s gains and enhancing Ghana’s overall macroeconomic stability.
