The Ministry of Finance has inaugurated the Gold Board Tribunal, a new body established under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025, to handle appeals arising from the decisions of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson administered the oaths of office to Chairperson Biadala Mortey Akpadzi and members Hamidu Mariam and Justin Pwavra Teriwajah at a ceremony in Accra.
The tribunal will serve as an independent appellate body with decisions carrying the same legal weight as a High Court judgment. Appeals from its rulings may proceed to the Court of Appeal.
Dr. Forson stressed that the tribunal will enhance transparency and due process in the gold sector, urging the members to uphold integrity, fairness, and professional standards.
The GoldBod Tribunal will be convened as needed to review appeals related to licensing and disputes before the Dispute Resolution Committee. Its structure reflects expertise in law, minerals, and commerce, ensuring credible adjudication in mining-related matters.
Chairperson Akpadzi pledged the tribunal’s commitment to impartiality and public accountability, noting that appeals will be handled “with the seriousness they deserve.”
The inauguration marks a major step in streamlining dispute resolution in Ghana’s gold sector and strengthening regulatory governance.
