Gov’t launches portal for 3m coconut seedlings distribution initiative

The Office of the President, through the Presidential Initiative on Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), has launched an online portal to facilitate the distribution of three million coconut seedlings to farmers across the country.

Speaking at the launch held at the PIAA Conference Hall at Jubilee House, the CEO of the initiative, Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, said the program is a collaboration between the Presidency and Exim Bank, designed to boost coconut production nationwide.

Dr. Otokunor stressed that President John Mahama remains committed to making Ghana self-reliant in food production while creating sustainable livelihoods for farmers.

The initiative aims to empower farmers and expand coconut cultivation from the current 90,000 metric tons to 120,000 metric tons annually.

President of the Coconut Federation, Mr. Patrick Ndabiah, applauded the intervention and encouraged coconut farmers to take full advantage of the opportunity to enhance production.
