Health minister assures resolution of e-health contract delays

The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured Parliament that government is taking steps to address contractual challenges involving Ghanaian-owned Lightwave eHealthcare Solutions Limited, developers of the Lightwave Health Information Management System (LHIMS).

Addressing Parliament on the state of the country’s e-health infrastructure, the Minister revealed that there were irregularities in the contract signed by the previous administration, noting that less than 50 percent of the project had been completed even though over 90 percent of the contract sum had already been paid.

Mr. Akandoh stated that the Ministry is working to resolve the delays and ensure value for money in the implementation of the LHIMS project.

The LHIMS platform serves as the digital backbone of Ghana’s national e-health system, facilitating patient data management and improving healthcare delivery across the country.

The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s digital health infrastructure and ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all related contracts.
