The Ministry of the Interior has unveiled a new Online Digital Services Portal, marking a major step in Ghana’s ongoing digital transformation drive.
The platform is designed to make key public services faster, more transparent, and easier for citizens to access.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak said the new system builds on the recent introduction of a centralised e-recruitment portal for all security services, an initiative that has already enhanced transparency and efficiency in recruitment for the Police, Prisons, Fire, and Immigration Services.
He noted that the Digital Services Portal forms part of the government’s vision, under President John Dramani Mahama, to create a modern, secure, and inclusive digital economy.
The portal provides end-to-end online access to several of the Ministry’s most frequently used services.
These include citizenship and migration applications such as dual nationality, naturalisation, renunciation of citizenship, and immigrant quota permits.
It also covers key security and regulatory services, including licences for private security organisations, permits for arms and ammunition, authorisations for the import and export of explosives, and auctioneer’s licences.
Another newly digitalised service is the exportation of dead bodies, a process the Minister says will now be faster and less burdensome for grieving families.
The Minister said the initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to delivering a more efficient and citizen-centred service environment, while supporting the government’s broader public sector digitalisation agenda.
