After the devastating helicopter crash in Ghana’s Ashanti Region on August 6, the international community has rallied in a heartfelt show of sympathy and solidarity.
Leaders, organizations, and governments from across the globe have extended their condolences to the bereaved families, the Ghanaian government, and its people.
The Janaza for the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed will be held at the Anbariya Islamic Institute in Nyanshegu at 10:00 am, after which the cortege will proceed to the Zujung Cemetery for interment in accordance with Islamic tradition.
The Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John, confirmed that Dr. Murtala’s remains would be airlifted to Tamale on the morning of August 7 to facilitate a dignified funeral.
In honor of the late minister and other victims of the tragic crash, the government has directed that national flags be flown at half-mast nationwide.

Messages also came from Germany, whose embassy in Accra expressed heartfelt sympathy and reaffirmed its partnership with Ghana, and from Canada, which honored the service of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and the other victims.
King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia sent personal condolences to President Mahama and the bereaved families, while WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala conveyed her sympathy to the president, the families, and the nation.
