The Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has stated that JA Plant Pool Ghana Limited was overpaid by about $2 million under the District Resources Improvement Programme (DRIP).
Speaking in Parliament, Dr. Ayine said a review of contractual documents and payment records revealed that the company received more than it was entitled to under the terms of the contract.
He called for a full investigation and recovery of the excess payment.
“Our scrutiny shows that the amount disbursed to JA Plant Pool exceeded the contractual value by approximately $2 million. This raises serious questions about accountability and fiscal prudence,” Dr. Ayine stated.
The DRIP project, designed to support local government infrastructure development, involved the supply of heavy-duty equipment to district assemblies.
Dr. Ayine argued that such discrepancies undermined the purpose of the initiative and demanded transparency from the Ministry of Local Government and the Finance Ministry.
He urged Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to take up the matter and ensure that public funds are safeguarded.
Meanwhile, officials from JA Plant Pool are yet to issue a formal response to the allegations.
