The Ghana Police Service is working closely with Nigerian authorities to facilitate the transportation of two victims and suspects involved in the recent kidnapping case back to Ghana.
The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB) and the Nigeria Police Force, successfully rescued the two female victims who were kidnapped and featured in a viral video.
The chilling footage, which captured the victims in distress, had sparked widespread public outrage and concern.
In a joint operation, eight suspects were apprehended in connection with the kidnapping, with arrests made in both Ghana and Nigeria.
The suspects were located at various hideouts across the two countries, with law enforcement agencies working together seamlessly to track and capture the perpetrators.
Addressing journalists in Accra on Tuesday May 7, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said efforts were underway to ensure both the victims and suspects are safely transferred.
DCOP Donkor revealed that the families of the victims had paid a total of GHS18,000 to various phone numbers as part of ransom demands.
However, she assured the public that the victims are currently in stable condition.

DCOP Lydia Yaako also stated that the Eastern South Regional Police Command is investigating a shooting incident which occurred on 29th April 2025 and resulted in the death of five (5) people at Asiyaw, near Akwane-Dobro, Nsawam.
She said the Police crime scene team which responded to the incident found the lifeless bodies of five (5) male adults with gunshot wounds.
The team also recovered the following items from the scene.
One (1) Toyota Tacoma vehicle,
One (1) Toyota Tundra vehicle,
One (1) pump action gun with seventeen (17) live cartridges,
Four (4) empty cartridges,
Three (3) 7.62/39mm empty shells,
One (1) 9mm empty shell
Five (5) heavy duty motorbikes.
She continued that Preliminary investigations suggest that there was a confrontation between two groups over sand winning at the location of the incident.
