Renowned Ghanaian Highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena officially launched the ‘’Aso’’ @ 20 celebration on Friday, July 18, at Croks Lounge in Osu, marking two decades since the release of his timeless hit single, Aso.
The anniversary launch ushered in a year-long celebration of his music legacy, with the award-winning artist unveiling a global tour, all-star collaborations, and a special remix of Aso as part of the festivities.
Originally released in 2004 as part of his debut album, Aso quickly became an anthem across Ghana and beyond.
The album, which also featured classics like Ka Kyere Me and Trodom, cemented Kwabena Kwabena’s reputation as one of the country’s most authentic and soulful musical talents.
“It’s an honor to see Aso still resonate with audiences 20 years on,” he said at the launch. “To have the next generation performing it is overwhelming. I’m truly grateful for the love and support over the years.”
The intimate event brought together key industry stakeholders and entertainment personalities, including Fred Kyei Mensah (Fredyma), Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Silva Lady, Harglah, Papa Bills, Sally Mann, Kwesi Ernest, AJ Poundz, Lexis Bill, Praye Tietia, and Epixode. Celebrated broadcaster Andy Dosty emceed the evening, which also featured short performances by Kwabena Kwabena, Praye Tietia, and Epixode.
To commemorate the milestone, Kwabena Kwabena announced a global tour that will take him across Africa, Europe, North America, and Australia. A special anniversary remix of Aso, featuring top Ghanaian artists, both legends and rising stars is also set for release.
