Mahama, Bawumia mourn with the late Dr. Omane Boamah’s family

In a solemn expression of national solidarity, President John Dramani Mahama paid a heartfelt visit to the family home of the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Ghana’s Defence Minister who tragically died in the recent helicopter crash, offering condolences and support to his grieving loved ones.

Accompanying President Mahama were Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Members of Parliament, including Sam George of Ningo-Prampram, and other dignitaries, who joined in offering words of comfort and solidarity to Mr. Boamah’s widow and family.

On Saturday, 9 August 2025, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President, visited President Mahama at his private residence to share in the country’s mourning and express empathy for the national tragedy.

The visit was followed by a visit to the Omane Boamah household, where he offered condolences directly to the bereaved family and called on God to grant them strength and healing during this dark time.

During his visit, Dr. Bawumia reflected on the tragic loss, stating:

“The fallen men paid the ultimate price in the service of our motherland … I know most of the deceased personally and equally feel a sense of loss to see their demise under such horrid circumstances.”

He also prayed for divine comfort for the families, the government, and all Ghanaians in mourning.
