National Prayer and Thanksgiving Committee Pays Courtesy Visit to Chief Imam

The Planning Committee for the upcoming National Prayer and Thanksgiving has paid a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Fadama.

Led by Committee Chairman Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the delegation expressed gratitude to the Chief Imam for his warm reception and formally briefed him on preparations for the national event, which is scheduled for July 1, 2025.

The committee announced that the prayer and thanksgiving activities will be observed simultaneously across all 16 regions of Ghana.

The national program will begin with Christian prayers at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by Islamic prayers at the National Mosque in Kanda from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.

Describing the event as a solemn moment for national reflection, the committee emphasized its spiritual importance.

“This is a time to thank Almighty Allah for His continued mercy and to seek His guidance for peace, unity, and national healing,” said Chairman Afriyie Ankrah.

He also requested the Chief Imam’s blessings and extended a formal invitation to him to participate in the event.

In response, Sheikh Sharubutu praised the initiative and underlined the importance of such spiritual gatherings in promoting moral renewal and national cohesion.

He assured the committee of his full support and offered prayers for the success of the event and for Ghana as a whole.

The visit forms part of the committee’s ongoing engagement with religious leaders and stakeholders nationwide.

This year’s National Prayer and Thanksgiving is themed “Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity.”
