The Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has appealed to the people of the Western Region to vote for change to guarantee an improvement in their living conditions and a brighter future.
Speaking during her three-day campaign tour of the region, Professor Opoku-Agyemang expressed her dismay about difficulties fishermen in the region face especially with accessing premix fuel and outboard motors.
“This is unacceptable. I beg of you, vote for change,” she urged the crowd at Ahanta West. ”
She continued – “Let us work together to ensure our fishermen have access to the resources they need to thrive.”
Professor Opoku-Agyemang who took time to explain some manifesto promises for coastal communities, promised that an NDC government would prioritize the needs of fishermen, by providing them with affordable premix fuel and outboard motors.
She criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for destroying water bodies in the western Region through galamsey activities and failing to create jobs for the youth.
“The only way out of this problem is to vote out the NPP government and bring in the NDC,” she told a large crowd at Mpohor.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang said that the NDC prioritizes the needs of fishermen, recalling that the late President John Atta Mills was enstooled as a chief fisherman during his regime due to the NDC’s good policies for fisherfolks.
She appealed to the audience to be ambassadors for change and vote for the NDC to address the economic difficulties inflicted by the Akufo-Addo government.
As she continues her tour, which is expected to end on Thursday, Professor Opoku-Agyemang is expected to reiterate her message of hope and change to the people of the Western region
