The Running Mate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has reaffirmed the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama’s, pledge to investigate the alleged looting of state lands.
This assurance follows an official complaint made by the Spokesperson for the Tema Traditional Council, Nii Shipi Armah, during a courtesy call on the traditional leaders as part of her campaign tour of the three constituencies in Tema.
According to the chiefs, who expressed their frustration, no compensation has been paid to them despite protests and demands for the return of lands seized by government officials.
The Tema Traditional Council’s concern arises amidst widespread discontent over the scramble for state lands, particularly in Accra and other regional capitals.
The NDC Running Mate described this situation as unfortunate and stated that the next NDC government recognizes the implications if those who have wrongfully taken over state lands without legal recourse are not compelled to return them to their rightful owners.
