The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ketu North, in the Volta Region, Eric Edem Agbana, has taken a swipe at the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo, calling his appointees “thieves” who do not have Ghana at heart.
Speaking to Oheneba Boamah Bennie on the Gumbe Show on TV XYZ, the former Deputy Youth Organiser for the party lashed out at those in Akufo-Addo’s government for the messed up economy and swell in corruptaion related activities among these officials.
Agbana pointed to the many corrupt cases that have happened in the NPP government and argued that graft had slowed the growth of the country especially at a time some key people in government and closer to the president and his family members had strategically captured key positions that enables them to steal from the public purse.
His comment comes on the back of the sacking of the Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang.
Tenkorang was asked in the letter announcing his firing to hand over to Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, a son of a senior advisor to the president, Yaw Osafo Maafo. Kofi Bosompem was the Deputy Director-General in charge of Investment & Development at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
In Edem Agbana’s estimation, the sacking of the man was orchestrated way before he was appointed.
Agbana believes the sacking is to fulfil a clandestine move by the family of the president to have access to huge funds the Trust has made which are meant for developmental purposes.
The Agyapadie Document
The plan, he noted, was authored by the family of the Ofori Atta’s who are Akufo-Addo’s family members to strategise clandestinely to release key resources including the nation’s mineral proceeds and the Electricity Distribution backbones to key persons within the Kyebi fraternity whose membership now hold the fort of the presidency and key ministries in government.
A portion of this restricted document titled Agyapadie to wit valuable property of inheritance reads, “The NPP’s agenda for political dominance will hinge on our financial might.”
With Nana in total control of the whole entity of Ghana; when we have finally captured the command and control sectors of our country for our private use, we will then be in the proper stead to wield the political and economic power to control the destiny of this country under Oforipanin.”
Agbana indicated that almost every strategic plan in the document is playing out under Akufo-Addo, the reason he believes the government are full of thieves whose motive is to capture every sector of the economy to enrich the descendants of the Akufo-Addo’s family and his Kyebi kinsmen.
He asked Ghanaians to un derstand that the people in government, especially those in the inner circles of Akufo-Addo are “wicked and do not mean well for Ghanaians.”
He said the rot would have to be overturned by the NDC flag bearer, John Mahama, whom he said will reset this country and fix the mess created by Akufo-Addo and his cohorts when voted to power in the impending December polls.
