The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 Campaign Team, Professor Joshua Alabi has assured the rank and file of the party and Ghanaians at large that the NDC will take over power from the New Patriotic Party smoothly.
According to him, just as the President and NPP gurus and it’s allies were compelled to take hands off the SSNIT hotels without a gun pointed at their heads, so will they hand over power to the NDC.
Prof Joshua Alabi who was addressing NDC supporters at the 2024 campaign launch at Tamale said – “Ghana is moving in the wrong direction, they will lose and hand over and run away and we are assuring everybody that we will protect your votes so go and vote,”
Prof. Alabi was also particularly worried about the high levels of unemployment amongst the youth.
He emphasized that democracy should focus on the welfare of the masses rather than the interests of the leader and his family, which he claims is the current government’s priority.
Drawing an analogy, he compared democracy to a football match, where the goal is to celebrate a victory and go to sleep, but democracy is all about the benefits for everyone.
According to him, the primary reason for the launch was to intensify the fight against state capture by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, now the NPP’s flagbearer.
He called on Ghanaians to join the communal labour by turning out in their numbers for the NDC to stop the state capture by the NPP and its affiliates in government.
