Odododiodioo MP outdoors YEA community police, donates 100 led streetlights and 1,500 bulbs

The Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo, Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie, has fulfilled part of his 2024 campaign pledge with the donation of 100 LED streetlights and 1,500 bulbs to the constituency.

The initiative is aimed at improving street lighting across communities in Odododiodioo to enhance security and support the work of the newly introduced Youth Employment Agency (YEA) community police.

Mr. Ashie made the donation during the outdooring ceremony of YEA’s community police and fire service personnel at the Bukom AstroTurf.

Commending YEA for deploying young people into meaningful roles, he urged the personnel to serve with integrity and professionalism, noting that public trust is vital to their effectiveness.

“This initiative will make our communities brighter at night, improve visibility for residents, and make it easier for community police to carry out patrols.

We must all work together to reduce criminal attacks and create a safer environment for our children and businesses,” he said.

The MP also cautioned the personnel against corrupt or dubious acts that could undermine confidence in the service, encouraging them to be role models for the youth of the constituency.

Community leaders and residents at the event praised the intervention, describing it as timely and beneficial to both security and evening economic activity.

The streetlights and bulbs will be installed in the coming weeks at strategic points, with priority given to dark spots and high-crime-prone areas.
