Parliamentary committee commends Joana Gyan and Peter Amponsah for addressing water challenges

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development has commended the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, and the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Peter Amponsah, for their joint efforts in tackling long-standing water challenges in the district.

The praise came when Hon. Amponsah appeared before the Committee during deliberations on the Annual Audit Statement of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

Committee Chairperson, Hon. Queenstar Sawyer, highlighted the persistent water shortages facing several communities.

In response, Hon. Amponsah disclosed that with the support of the MP, about 60 boreholes had been constructed to ease the burden on residents.

The update was warmly received, with the Chairperson describing Joana Gyan as “a truly dedicated and hardworking woman.”

Other members of the Committee also applauded the MP and the DCE for their collaborative approach to development.

For many families in Amenfi Central, the boreholes represent more than just water, they bring hope and relief after years of hardship.

The intervention is expected to ease the stress of fetching water, particularly for women and children, while raising optimism that the strong teamwork between the MP and the DCE will translate into further development projects.
