Swiss Ambassador engages Presidency on governance, decentralisation, and anti-corruption cooperation

Her Excellency Simone Giger, Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, has paid a courtesy call on the Presidency to discuss potential areas of enhanced bilateral cooperation, with a focus on local governance, decentralisation, and legal reform.

During the high-level engagement, the Swiss delegation expressed keen interest in supporting Ghana’s governance and constitutional development agenda, particularly through assistance to the Constitutional Review Committee.

Ambassador Giger noted Switzerland’s desire to see the Committee institutionalised as a permanent body to strengthen Ghana’s legal framework.

The Swiss side also reiterated their commitment to aiding Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts, affirming the importance of transparency and accountability in sustainable national development.

Responding on behalf of the President, Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah welcomed the support and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening ties with Switzerland.

He applauded the Swiss government’s contributions to Ghana’s democratic governance and assured the delegation of Ghana’s openness to cooperation aimed at fostering a decentralised and business-friendly environment.

“Ghana remains one of the most secure and promising investment destinations in Africa,” Hon. Debrah stated, encouraging Swiss investors to explore joint ventures and business opportunities within the country’s growing economy.

The meeting forms part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at reinforcing the strong partnership between Ghana and Switzerland.
