Tamale central: NDC issues primary guidelines for by-election

Ahead of the Tamale Central parliamentary by-election, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally released guidelines for its primary to select a parliamentary candidate.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opened nominations for its Northern Regional primary, with forms available at the party’s regional office in Tamale from August 22 to 24.

Aspirants are required to pay a non-refundable nomination fee of GH₵5,000 and a filing fee of GH₵40,000, which must be paid in cash directly into the party’s official UMB Bank (Adabraka Branch) account.

Female aspirants and persons with disabilities will enjoy a 50 percent reduction in the filing fee, while cheques and bankers’ drafts will not be accepted.

Following the close of nominations, aspirants will be vetted on August 26, and the final list of approved candidates will be published on August 27.

The election itself is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 6, 2025. A certified list of delegates will be made available to qualified aspirants after the vetting process.

The NDC’s structured approach aims to promote transparency, inclusivity, and compliance with party protocols during a sensitive period following the tragic passing of MP Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
